Swiss National Day Picnic

IMG_7988IMG_3677The Swiss National Day Picnic at Castle Hill Showground, organised by the Swiss Yodlers of Sydney and the Swiss Folksdance Group Alpegruess, was once again a great success.

This is the largest gathering of Swiss compatriots and friends in the Southern Hemisphere and again, we looked  forward to welcoming over 1500 patriotic visitors this year.

The variety of stalls kept everyone busy offering many Swiss delicacies and products. The BBQ proved to be very popular with bratwurst, cervelats and fleishkase available. The tombola prize list was massive this year and many lucky visitors won some great prices. The bar was also very busy offering wine, beer, schnapps, coffee and tea. There were also many attractions for the children, including a huge selection of rides, a petting zoo and bottle fishing.

BBR French Speaking World Festival

Swiss Yodlers Dinner BBR French Festival 1

This outdoor festival is a unique free gathering in heart of the City, a dazzling mix of flavours, aromas, colours and sounds inspired by the French spirit and style. It is also a vibrant salute to France’s National Day – called Bastille Day.  In 2013, BBR French Festival’s first edition burst onto Sydney’s Circular Quay foreshore at Customs House and adjoining Customs House Square, for three days from Friday to Sunday

On 10, 11 and 12th July 2015, the third edition of the BBR Festival was a “Rendez-vous” of the French speaking world, bringing together 4 of the biggest French speaking countries in the world, Belgium, Canada, France and Switzerland, to create an exciting, fun and cultural experience in the heart of Sydney: 4 countries, 4 strong identities and cultures with so much to share.
